Lita Speaks: Keep reaching!

“My own personal standards are ridiculous. Seems winning is never possible. But that’s OK, as long as the bar is always hovering above my head I’ll continue to reach for the skies.”

…………………………… ……….. ….. ……………………………………………. ……………… …..

You’re only playing yourself when you incomplete your set, not finish your reps, give minimal effort. I find that most people are quick to complain about their bodies, worry about being overweight, out of shape and unhealthy and yet there is little effort to changing yourself for the better and/or pushing yourself to a higher level of success.
Set realistic goals but keep them challenging enough that you’re fighting for the finish line. Not only is it important to set goals, it is also invigorating to push yourself beyond your own standards, a standard you’ll find you never knew existed until you reach it, better yet, achieve it! You will find pain there, sure, you’ll also find a new found faith in self and your own abilities.

Keep reaching as if there is no limit!

I always seem to find the corniest pictures, it’s great.

Lita Speaks; Motivational Quote

BELIEVE that you CAN

know that YOU WILL

…and PURSUE with EVERYTHING you are!

Allow Christian D. Larson to speak to you;

We are all capable of so much it is unbelievable, or better yet believable! I have met some amazing women in my life that have accomplished so much from so little. Hearing personal struggles, learning of stories that have touched my heart I can’t help but pay tribute to them and their journeys to success.

I simply wanted to share a little positive reinforcement, we have to believe that we can, we will and we have! That all things are possible with faith, effort and hard work.

Whatever it is you are striving towards, working to, aiming for KEEP GOING! Not only are you one step closer to your personal achievements you are also contributing to something extremely powerful; the power of a circled force of inspiration and motivation to others alike. And with that said; THANK YOU!

With Love,

Lita x

THANK YOU; that is all!

Hi Yall,

I wanted to post a personal entry simply to say hi! I’ve been meaning to take some time and give a big shout out to my followers! In the last few months since starting this blog I have received a great deal of positive feedback, it’s wonderful! Many of you are dear friends that comment me via Facebook, by email and even Twitter, your words are nothing but praise and positive energy so I want to take the time and give back a huge THANK YOU!

I didn’t think myself the blog type but after many of you hit me with the idea I couldn’t ignore it for too long! I started FollowTheLita out of fun simply wanting to promote that we should all lead happy, healthy and active lifestyles. There is nothing better than leading by example so I figured why not try my influence in a positive and uplifting way, hence my efforts here!

Bettering my health and fitness has in more recent years become a top priority of mine. I have been extremely fortunate that many of my closest mates are leading professionals in what they do, all have been icons and strong influences in my life that have encouraged me to maintain a healthy attitude towards exercising and eating clean.

Along my personal journey of reaching optimum health I’m sharing what I can, when I can by plugging helpful advice I’ve stumbled upon, sharing exercises I personally love doing & interviewing some of my favorite people, friends and fellow health nuts like me to also help influence a positive change in your health!

If you’re reading this, THANK YOU …thank you for following, thank you for your continued support and awesome feedback. I look forward to keeping this blog up to date and sharing that good stuff with yall!  I hope you’re enjoying this as much as I am! …enjoy your sweat!

My Little Rule of Thumbs & Toes

>>>>> Thumbs, Toes …you know, the little rules I try to stick by when it comes to eating habits…

I’ve been advised by a faithful follower (you know who you are!) to start making this blog a lil’ more personal, and by personal she meant that I post more “me” on these pages. LOL, yes sounds kinda conceited right, well yea it is, haha. But with this said and a good laugh behind us I’m sharing a few helpful hints that I personally live by that relate to clean eating. Check it out >>>

  • I do my best to stay away from FRIED foods; Go grilled!

  • I avoid fatty salad dressings and sauces; Balsamic Vinaigrette is my favorite!
  • I drink as much water as I possibly can – aim for 6 glasses per day; Ugh, probably the most difficult task for me but I do. Especially important during the Summer season.
  • I do not add salt to my foods, only pepper and other spices; Cayenne Pepper is a trusted real goodie!
  • I do not eat after 8/9PM at night; Difficult yes, but the trick is to drink (fruit smoothies, water, hot teas) when hunger bites you passed 8pm! Note to self; it is common for most to mistake hunger for thirst.
  • I snack on only healthy foods if I ever get hungry; OK, so sometimes I cheat but my trusty lunchbox means I always have fresh fruit & dry fruits available!

  • I drink protein shakes; (sometimes as snacks between meals) but usually 30mins before my workouts
  • I am a realist; and so I incorporate a little ‘cheat snack’ at least 2-3 times a week! I’m adding this in because it’s important to be real with yourself. Avoiding the sugary treats you love completely only leads you down the binge path – don’t want that, so eat something on the black list a few times a week without the devil looming over your shoulder! :)

HAPPY CLEAN EATING …LL,

Lita Speaks: Encourage & Promote Good Health

“Encourage your friends and family to eat clean & partake in regular exercise. There is nothing better than to promote health awareness and support the ones you love maintain, regain or start living a healthier lifestyle!”

I find working out with a friend meets two fulfilling requirements, quality time spent with a mate and the benefit of hard earned sweat! Live in love and get healthy! …LL

Questions; Answered!

A health enthusiast on a mission to drop weight has asked me a few questions. Because these are commonly asked questions I’m sharing the answers with all…

I run a 5 mile hill course by my house and my body is kind of getting used to it. What does your cardio workout look like?

Awesome, you sound like you’re right on top of business! A 5mile run is a great effort. Personally I don’t like running for long periods at a time, I lose interest, get bored and as a result my form gets sloppy, I opt for Internal Training for my cardio – no more than 15-20mins of intense bursts of sprinting, jogging, steep incline power walking and repeating this in intervals. My heart rate jumps and I feel the same effects doing intervals training as I do 45mins of straight running…if not better results with interval.

Do you have an eating plan?

Eating plan…no, not really. For the most part I eat whatever I want! If I were to take my diet seriously I could definitely cut a lot of foods and also avoid eating late at night but for me, now, it’s not necessary. I’ve never been a terrible eater, I usually eat clean throughout the day and possibly have something sweet every now and again. I recommend that you eat 5-6 meals a day – especially if you’re active! People don’t understand that food is really the key to healthy weight loss! It’s a common mistake for women to cut their carbs, cut calories and then turn around and beast up on their training – makes no sense, remember this: FOOD is FUEL …if you’re not getting enough fuel (the right fuel), you’re not providing your body with enough nutrients to train harder and therefore burn more calories!

Everyone’s training is different though so this may not apply to you but if you’re lifting, doing resistant training (weights) you definitely want to make sure your diet is on track otherwise you’ll be doing yourself a big injustice!

Note: NEVER skip on breakfast either! Breakfast and lunch are my biggest meals of the day.

How can I break through this cardio-plateau? I’m trying to drop body fat and know cardio is key, but any other suggestions?

I’d recommend some moderate resistant training. I’ve noticed a lot of women are hesitant to hit the weight room but many also don’t realize that gaining lean muscle helps you fight fat – even when you sleep! So never be afraid to tone and gain lean muscle mass.

Do you take Yoga classes?

Funnily enough I’ve never taken a Yoga class! Classes, as good as they are have never been big in my training regime – stupid because I know all the benefits yoga/bikram and other awesome classes available at your gym like kickboxing/dance etc provide you but I’m still that girl that will skip a class to do movement training in the park or run to the weight room to do circuit training. I’ll change my mental this summer though, Yoga will be a must.
